You are invited! The Library is sponsoring a program at the Sunflower Gardens Community Room on Sunday April 23 at 2 pm for a presentation by Ulysses Lee “Rip” Gooch (born September 13, 1923). Mr. Gooch is a former pilot, aviation entrepreneur, and Kansas politician. Gooch was a member of the Kansas Commission on Civil Rights, a member of the Wichita City Council, and a Kansas state senator until retiring in January 2004 as the state’s oldest serving senator, at 80. Gooch was one of the first inductees to the Black Aviation Hall of Fame. This is a free program, and refreshments will be served. Sunflower Gardens is located at 460 N Emporia in Valley Center.

The Library board has authorized management to close the Library all day on Sat. Feb. 18 so that staff may attend a memorial service. The Adult Program: Mystery Dinner Theater will go forward as planned at 6 pm Saturday for all those who RSVP’d. Thank you for your understanding.
Thu. Feb. 16 – all day at Valley Center Pizza Hut – Fundraiser for the Community Center/Library Building Fund. Enjoy food and help the Friends of the Library at the same time. Stop by the Library for the necessary certificate. 20% of eligible purchases when using the certificate go to the Building Fund.
