The Solar Eclipse – the celestial event of the century!

Family Hot Dog Cookout and Stargazing with the Kansas Cosmosphere

Monday night August 14 at 7 pm at McLaughlin Park in Valley Center

Please RSVP by Friday Aug. 11 so we can plan on food.  This is a free event, donations cheerfully accepted.

BYO Lawn Chairs

*****We are happy to report that we have a LOT of people signed up to come to the hotdog cookout and program at McLaughlin Park on Monday night. We are concerned that parking might be an issue, particularly for our guests who might have a little more trouble getting around. So we are asking our guests who don’t mind a little walk to consider parking at the rec center complex and walking over to the park pavilion! See you Monday night!

Solar Eclipse Watch Party

Monday August 21 from 11:30 to 2:45 at the Library.  Come any time for crafts, games, and to watch the eclipse.

Additional information on the solar eclipse can be found here:

***** We’ll start handing out glasses on Aug 21 no earlier than 11:30 am at the Library.  First come, first served.  We have approximately 200 pairs of glasses left.  We’ll also be cooking about 80 hotdogs, again, first come, first served.  If you have already received glasses or have some from another source, please don’t ask us for extras.  We don’t know how many people to expect here Monday, but based on call volume, it could be A LOT and we want everyone to have a chance to enjoy the show!

Free Solar Eclipse Glasses while they last.  Must attend one or both events to receive glasses.
